"Salute to Vienna" @Lincoln Center (New York) Featured
For the fourth time, Matthias Fletzberger was invited to conduct the largest New Year's Concert series in the world. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of "Salute to Vienna", at the turn of the year 2015/16 he led the New Year's Concerts in Philadelphia, Washington and New York (Lincoln Center) and received enthusiastic applause and standing ovations by the audience.
The echo of this concert series so popular in America echoed all the way to Austria. So reported u.a. Salzburger Nachrichten: "In the US, Vienna is closer to what one believes. For the fourth time the Viennese pianist and conductor Matthias Fletzberger has prepared a program with the Strauss Symphony of America programming, Russian soprano Natalia Ushakova and US tenor Brian Cheney. Together with  Europa Ballett St. Pölten they presented operetta arias, waltzes and Polka's of Viennese origins.
With concerts at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia and at the David Geffen Hall in New York's Lincoln Center, the halls were hugely popular and still sold out, as were the New Brunswick and Strathmore concerts. And everywhere there were bright faces, as shown by the selfies that Brian Cheney made with listeners. For the last bar of the Radetzky march Cheney even took a selfie with soprano the conductor. Matthias Fletzberger is invited again, he conducts "Salute to Vienna" 2016/17 in Toronto (Canada)."
