At the conductor's podium stands Matthias Fletzberger, a sensitive and refined interpreter who knows how to shape the interplay between orchestra and choir with balance and expressiveness. At the center of the evening is the orchestra of the Teatro Vittorio Emanuele, the pulsating heart of the theater's musical life, supported by the F. Cilea Opera Choir, prepared and led by Bruno Tirotta.
„Last night, the Teatro Vittorio Emanuele saw thunderous applause for the New Year's concert, an event that has become an indispensable tradition. The orchestra was conducted by Matthias Fletzberger. Works by Bizet, Strauss, Mozart, and Verdi were performed. The traditional finale was the Radetzky March.
„The leadership of Maestro Matthias Fletzberger was of great significance, as he guided the orchestra and choir with a confident gesture, musical sensitivity, and brilliant communication skills in an exceptional manner. His interpretation, which was both energetic and delicate, managed to fully engage the audience, create a lively dialogue between the stage and the hall, and thus significantly contribute to the enthusiastic atmosphere of the entire evening.“

„I promised the artistic director it would be shorter than last year, but if we get enough applause... maybe.„ A broken promise by Viennese conductor Matthias Fletzberger, who, together with the truly outstanding orchestra of Vittorio Emanuele and the powerful, intense Cilea opera choir led by Bruno Tirotta, enthralled the audience for well over two hours with works from the Italian opera tradition and Central European late Romanticism.“
