In the Liese-Prokop sports complex, which is normally used for completely different purposes, it was very classic on Monday. But not always, because in addition to the classical and romantic epochs, the program also featured works from the 20th century, which were contested by three top-class classical stars. Under the direction of the conductor Matthias Fletzberger, Daniela Fally, Lidia Baich and their stage and life partner Andreas Schager (l) performed everything that delighted the audience.
The open-air event took place in very good weather and was also extremely well attended. For one of the artists this event was a real “home game”. Andreas Schager, who recently sang his first Parsifal in Bayreuth (standing in for the sick Klaus-Florian Vogt), which is actually an “accolade” of the classical music scene, comes from Rohrbach an der Gölsen and was also very happy before his Home audience to perform. His smelting and forging songs by Siegfried (Richard Wagner, of course) were wonderfully powerful and at the same time mild. In addition, he and Daniela Fally enchanted in the first part of the concert with the duet of Micaela and Don José.
Lidia Baich, well-known and popular violinist, scattered her once gentle, once intense sounds over the stage with Rimsky-Korsakov, once with Massenet, with the famous meditation from "Thais". The classical music was sealed again with the expressive and vibrantly feudal aria of Amina from “La Sonnambula”, performed by Daniela Fally, with the support of the 3klang Choir Rohrbach. The Vivaldi seasons (excerpts with the spring - 1st movement, summer - 2nd movement and winter - 1st movement) enriched the program with Baich's passion for playing. Conductor Matthias Fletzberger led the Schönbrunn Festival Orchestra and took care of the gestural communication of the musical design
After a short break, one could then listen to selected works (of which it must be noted that they were really carefully put together) from the 20th century. The overture, the adagio and the bacchanal from Spartacus (Aram Khachaturian) were musically precisely performed by Lidia Baich. Erich Wolfgang Korngold, not exactly known for his incredibly cheerful works, was also represented with the duet Marietta - Paul from “Die tote Stadt”, which in turn Fally and Schager intoned with a lot of feeling and an expression that suited the composer and was somewhat different than exuberant Serenity. Dear Johann Strauss (II) was also represented by a special arrangement by Baich and Fletzberger.
A rhapsody for orchestra was written by Emmanuel Chabrier (who can actually still be assigned to Romanticism) with the wonderful melody "Espana" (which was reworked into a waltz by Emil Waldteufel and was also performed at this year's New Year's concert by the Vienna Philharmonic). The Schönbrunn Festival Orchestra and Matthias Fletzberger also made the best of it here. The two song and opera hits “Granada” (A. Lara) and “Nessun dorma” (G. Puccini, “Turandot”) performed by Andreas Schager are wonderful and flawless. Daniela Fally made the Kunigunde song from “Candide” von Bernstein, “Glitter and Be Gay” an experience. The famous “drinking song” from Verdi's “Traviata”, known as “Libiamo nell lieti calici”, or Brindisi, as well as “Barcelona” were impressively performed by the ensemble.
